Following his third open-heart surgery Alfred Henke searched for a way in which to work through his emotions and fears and found that outlet in painting.

He experiments with light, form and color. Without obvious accessories, extravagant requisites or putting himself into the spotlight. His feelings and thoughts are his inspiration for his artistic expression. Abstract forms emerge and change their appearance depending upon the mood.

Henke delivers, not with words, but through his powerful use of colors, subtly differentiated surfaces and the most varied structures, a razor-sharp analysis. He captures the meditative meaning of his thoughts and impressions on canvass and offers the viewer, for an instant, a vision of his inner being.
